Yipsy Macarons launched just over three months ago, in July 2014, but these colourful sweet treats are already taking Birmingham by storm. The perfect combination of crisp, chewy meringue and melt-in-your mouth filling that bursts with flavour, you’ll be left wanting more.
Nicknamed Yipsy by her friends, Angela Yip established the brand following a successful career as an Accountant, spanning over 10 years, which had left her lacking passion and drive. Having always loved baking, Angela became famous among family and friends for her macarons, and so Yipsy Macarons was born.
Macarons are notoriously difficult to bake but Angela, a self-confessed perfectionist, took on the challenge. Starting with a recipe originally taken from Ladurée, Angela adapted and perfected her macarons over the years; packing in flavour without adding unnecessary sweetness, fully making the recipe her own.
Yipsy Macarons are all lovingly handmade and gluten free, using free-range and locally sourced ingredients. With outstanding flavours that include Chocolate Praline, Cookies and Cream, and Salted Caramel at less than 100 calories each, they’re perfect for satisfying a sugar craving without the guilt of a cupcake!
For special occasions a Yipsy Macaron tower, holding up to 250 assorted macarons, is sure to make an impact at any event. Or for wedding favours with a difference, Yipsy Macarons customise macarons by flavour and colour, personalising them with a ribbon and message for your special day.
Stockists, so far, include Urban Coffee Company, Henry Wong Harborne and The Plough Harborne, while orders can be placed online via www.yipsymacarons.com with prices that start from just £15 for a box of 12 or £1.25 per macaron.
