A brand-new and exclusive wine bar is set to open its doors in Birmingham this autumn. Situated in the heart of the city’s Colmore Business District (Colmore BID), multi award-winning experiential wine bar brand, Vagabond, is gearing up to open its very first site outside of London. Vagabond will be serving the Midlands its signature style of self-serve wine discovery, with over one hundred wines available by the glass; welcome news for those looking to paint the town red, white, and rosé.
Birmingham locals might recognise Vagabond from trips to the capital, where it has established its name as Britain’s favourite multi award-winning wine bar. The 200 capacity bar will offer guests a selection of wines from around the world – as well as a choice of 10 self-poured draught beers, spirits, an expertly-crafted cocktail menu and nibbles – including Vagabond’s own English Wines that are made in its Urban Winery in South West London.
All wines are available via Vagabond’s iconic self-dispensing wine machines, which the brand has pioneered since opening its first wine bar in Fulham in 2010. The innovative machines can be controlled via an app on guests’ phones: ensuring that the power – and the glass – is always in their hands.
Making its home at 3 Colmore Row, Vagabond’s newest venue will make the most of the building’s rich heritage. Formerly a bank, the new bar will breathe new life into some of the existing original features; even transforming its old vault into a private tasting room.
Its senior team is looking forward to the brand’s Midlands debut – in particular, Vagabond’s Managing Director, Matt Fleming, who grew up in Birmingham. Speaking about the launch, Matt says:
“We’re seriously thrilled to be opening our newest bar in Birmingham. We’ve had our eyes on national – and international – expansion since before the pandemic, and Birmingham has always been marked as our first non-London opening. My own love for the city aside; it has one of the best food and drink scenes in the UK and we think Vagabond will fit in perfectly with its wine-loving residents. The growth of the F&B sector in the city over the years is truly exciting, and we can’t wait to be a part of its future. Plus, now my mom has somewhere to enjoy a great glass of wine!”
Vagabond’s mission is to make it easier for people to fall in love with wine, by providing the opportunity to try a huge variety of pours by the glass. Making discovery and experimenting a key part of the experience, Vagabond aims to make wine-tasting as interactive and accessible for all as possible.
“It feels so good to be back in my home city and to have the opportunity to bring the Vagabond experience to the people of Birmingham. I know I speak on behalf of the entire team when I say that we are truly excited to serve this city and look forward to opening our doors very, very soon!” added Matt.
Vagabond Birmingham will be open seven days a week and is set to open to the public from Friday 22 October 2021.
