This year’s most hotly anticipated opening for Birmingham’s independent scene is one step closer, as The Rolling Mill has announced it will be firing up its ovens from October 21st. Giving the city a taste of what’s in store with the roll-out of an exclusive delivery menu, the JQ bar and restaurant will be dishing up a fresh take on European flavours and classics with a vintage twist.
With dishes ranging from £7-£14, customers across the city centre will be able to order everything from pancakes to pizza direct to their door, ahead of the new venue’s imminent opening. Serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner, The Rolling Mill team hopes it can give Birmingham a taste of what’s to come from the comfort of their own home.
The brainchild of new Executive Chef, Sukh Aujla – whose experience saw him train under Gary Rhodes, before leading the kitchens of both CAU and The Bower House – the menu features both local and seasonal ingredients to craft hearty meals of the highest quality.
Speaking about the menu, Sukh comments:
“When working on what The Rolling Mill’s signature taste was going to be, we all agreed that we wanted to serve the finest food, but without the ego. Food is all about experience and so with this menu, we’ve really thought about every element of how we can give people that unmistakeable restaurant-feel from home, while they wait for us to open. This menu is a true labour of love, but we’re so proud of what we have created, and we can’t wait for Birmingham to try it.”
Brought to life by the Rull brothers – the local restauranteur duo behind the much-loved Hen and Chickens restaurant – The Rolling Mill marks the duo’s latest and largest hospitality venture to date within Birmingham.
Commenting on its first phase of launch, The Rolling Mill co-owner Sunny Rull says:
“We’re seriously thrilled to be serving up a first taste of The Rolling Mill with the launch of our delivery menu this weekend! From hearty breakfast dishes to flavourful main courses, we’re confident that we have something to suit everyone’s tastes and dietary requirements on this menu.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the city’s response to our opening announcement, and we are working tirelessly behind the scenes to put the final touches on the bar and restaurant. It’s a huge, versatile, and stunning space, and we cannot wait to welcome diners into the restaurant in the very near future.”
The 280-cover venue is undergoing the final stages of the build, and will boast ample indoor and outdoor space, with a covered courtyard, a heated mezzanine rooftop, two bars, and a private internal terrace.
Joining Sukh at the helm of the new venue will be Pierre Meunier as General Manager, and both are set to bring a wealth of experience and character to the venue.
“We are so excited to finally be bringing our vibrant, expertly-crafted food to the West Midlands. I know I speak on behalf of the entire team when I say that we are truly excited to serve up some really great dishes to Birmingham and can’t wait to open our doors in the coming weeks!” co-founder Sonu Rull added.
