Leading art retailer, Castle Fine Art, has unveiled its brand new home in Birmingham’s Mailbox. The 10,000 sq ft space sees the company more than double its existing flagship gallery size, with offices designed around creativity and a better work/life balance.
Already boasting a 6,000 sq ft stunning gallery at the Mailbox, which opened in 2019, Castle Fine Art has relocated its headquarters from Erdington and now joins the city’s thriving office scene. The company’s central functions, including ecommerce, marketing, and finance are now located within the new city centre space.
Designed to inspire and excite employees, the new HQ includes collaborative workstations, breakout and leisure zones, a glass mezzanine, and a podcast studio. Speaking about the move, the group’s Managing Director, Ian Weatherby-Blythe, comments:
“We’re proud of our Birmingham heritage and committed to investing in the city. Our new HQ sits opposite our flagship gallery and is a space as ambitious as our business goals. We wanted to provide our teams with somewhere dynamic, inspirational, and better suited to their working lives, and I’m delighted with the end result.
This is such an exciting time for the business; in addition to taking up more space at the Mailbox, we’re recruiting across some of our core functions – from admin and HR, through to our sales teams. We’re also set to announce more exciting collaborations and collections from the artists that we work with.”
Castle Fine Art boasts a network of 37 galleries nationwide, with two located in Birmingham, at the Mailbox and the ICC. The group has grown a reputation for being one of the UK’s most exciting and successful contemporary art retailers, with recent collections by Johnny Depp, Billy Connolly, James McQueen selling out.
Ruth Miley, M7’s senior asset manager for the Mailbox said:
“We are delighted that Castle Fine Art has chosen Mailbox for its new head office, following the success of its flagship gallery.
“The combination of strong location, high-quality space and a 24/7 mixed-use environment has established Mailbox as one of the city’s leading destinations for world-class businesses, offering a unique place to work.”
The Mailbox HQ is home to 60 employees and was designed by Three Sixty Commercial Interiors.
Martin Turner, Managing Director at Thirty Sixty said: “Having already worked with Castle Fine Art to design and fit out numerous galleries throughout the UK and completing their flagship gallery across the mall in the Mailbox a few years earlier, we were honoured to be asked to design and fit-out this prestigious project. We spent 12 months in close contact with the management and design teams at Castle Fine Art and the owners of the Mailbox, M7, to work the project through to a successful completion. Given the location this was a complex build, but this space has turned into a truly stunning office environment. It was a great team effort by all on the project contract and client side, one to definitely be proud of. We wish Castle Fine Art all the success in their new home.”
