SIGHTS SET ON SUCCESS AS BRITTAIN OPTICIANS CELEBRATES EIGHT YEARS IN BUSINESS

Proving that they have an eye for business, the optic experts at Brittain Opticians are celebrating eight years of success. The Harborne-based specialist store has established itself as an industry leader, having cultivated a cohesive full-service eye-care package that ranges from initial eye examining and lens finding, to frame fitting and merchandise maintenance.

The eighth anniversary of Brittain Opticians is also being marked by a milestone 15,000 customers since the store opened on Harborne High Street in 2008. Founder and Director Matt Rose started the business having worked in the industry, both in the UK and abroad, for over 13 years:

“I started Brittain Opticians because I wanted to provide the people of Birmingham with an eye-care service that didn’t compromise on standard or style. I wanted to create a non-clinical and personable environment that still had top-of-the-range equipment and products, delivered by a team of passionate experts. The past eight years and 15,000 customers prove that we have achieved what I wanted to, and I’m keen to continue growing the business to ensure we’re offering the best service, latest optical insight, and most forward-thinking brands.”

The concept of the 3300 sq ft store came after Matt recognised a fundamental flaw in the way that other opticians serviced customers, with the absence of a complete eye care model. The independent store addresses this by offering customers a wide-range of eye-care services, starting from simple eye tests all the way to Fundus photography, contact lens fitting, specialist sports eye wear, Goldmann pressure tests, and dry eye examinations, carried out in-house by Brittain Opticians’ team of five experts.

Not only does it offer eye care innovation, but Brittain Opticians also works with the best brands in the business, guaranteeing customers that the glasses they buy are of the highest quality. Ranging from designer labels, such as Paul Smith, Ray-Ban, and BVLGARI, to quirky, limited pieces by Face à Face and Götti, each brand in the collection has been handpicked by the team. What’s more, Brittain Opticians is in many cases the only stockist in the region of these eclectic designers: the likes of Lindberg Horns’ minimalist designs without screws, rivets and welds, FEB31st’s wooden frames, and MYKITA’s handcrafted pieces are all exclusive to Brittain Opticians in the West Midlands.

“When we began with only two members of staff and no brands of note, I definitely did not think that this is where we would be now. In such a competitive retail market, I am still overwhelmed by the customers who support us and the brands that choose us. Our expertise and agility, mixed with a dedicated and affluent customer base, means that we are able to continue stocking brands that set us apart from other opticians,” Matt continued.
