THE SECRET IS OUT AS THE CHARTER ROOMS HEADS TO BIRMINGHAM

Birmingham’s Great Western Arcade is proving just the tonic for Langley’s Gin producers, Charter Brands, as they get set to open their first permanent bar. The Charter Rooms Birmingham will open its doors in February 2017 offering an impressive dual level bar situated in the heart of the historic arcade.

The Charter Rooms Birmingham will embody the old-school salons and drawing rooms of the Victorian era, complete with darkened lighting, quirky layouts and traditional soft furnishings. The fully stocked bar will, of course, serve up Langley’s No. 8 Gin and the recently-launched Langley’s Old Tom Gin but is not to be mistaken for a gin bar. The new Birmingham hot spot will specialise in the best spirits, finest wines along with bespoke and classic cocktails. Not only that, the venue will have a private events space on the first floor.

Charter Brands Director, Mark Dawkins, is preparing for the new venture to open its doors:

“This week marks a milestone for the project, as the hoardings come down and we finally reveal the name of our first bar. We wanted a name that brought together our brand, the historic surroundings we’re in, but also felt like a place for people to meet all day and evening for varying usage and occasions… and we think The Charter Rooms embodies all of that.

“When we announced the opening of the bar, we were hoping to launch this side of Christmas, which was always an ambitious ask. Since starting the interior work, our architects and contractors have come across some interesting challenges bringing together two prominent units and also taking into account the arcade’s listed building status. Added to that, we’ve got something really exciting to announce that will be happening in the bar so we’ve made the decision to hold off on opening until early next year when everything can happen together. As our first permanent space, getting The Charter Rooms Birmingham spot on is our priority and we want to bring something really special to the city; whether you’re ending a long day at work, getting your weekend off to a great start, or having a refresh from a day of retail therapy. We can’t wait to welcome you all!”

Taking over 1,700 sq ft of space within Great Western Arcade, The Charter Rooms Birmingham joins a host of unique award-winning hospitality brands, including vegetarian restaurant 1847, fine wine merchant Loki Wine, and specialist delicatessen Anderson & Hill.
