Summer has arrived at two Westfield sites in London, with both welcoming an epic transformation courtesy of Hollywood Monster. The Shepherd’s Bush and Olympic Park shopping centres have had a complete overhaul, totalling around 2,000 square metres of new summer campaign creative.
The quick turnaround job was briefed only last week, with the Westfield and Hollywood Monster teams agreeing artwork and printing the epic graphics within 48 hours. Signage specialists Hollywood Monster had the challenging task of finding suitable substrate to cover a 90m x 13m façade, with a combination of glass and stonework to contend with.
“This has been one of our biggest challenges to date; not only did we have to find a material that would cover such a huge space, but we also needed to ensure the finish quality was the same across the entire surface. It was crucial that the overall appearance of the summer creative remained the same on both the glass and stonework, in line with the quality Westfield brand,” said Simon McKenzie, Director at Hollywood Monster.
“We were briefed on 13 July and immediately formulated a strategy and plan to project manage multiple installations across the centre. The artwork was agreed within 24 hours and the following day we were printing and shipping the graphics down to London. We had 20 of our installation experts on site, along with three access machines and four nights to complete the job. I’m extremely proud of the team and really happy with the results – both Westfield sites look fantastic. Summer has officially arrived in London,” Simon concluded.
In addition to installing graphics across 90m x 13m façades, the Hollywood Monster team produced and installed a further 1,000m of signage onto various buildings and hoardings at Olympic Park. One of these included a hopscotch floor graphic, which was fitted using a specialist floor vinyl for concrete to ensure its longevity whatever the weather. The print and installation job saw Hollywood Monster produce in excess of 2,000 square metres of graphics, with the job at a value of around £90,000.
The graphics officially launch Westfield’s summer campaign: ‘We are the London summer’, offering events, live music, food, fashion, film and free activities for families across the Westfield sites.
This latest job for Westfield comes after Hollywood Monster printed and designed a 440metre long hoarding for Westfield London earlier this year, as part of the retail giant’s £1 billion extension, and also produced the UK’s largest banner display – measuring 350m x 14 m – with Westfield Stratford in East London, opposite Olympic Park.
The signage experts have worked with the retail brand for the past few years on a number of high quality projects such as this, using creativity and flair to produce eye-catching and long lasting hoardings and displays. Hollywood Monster’s high-tech printing equipment and installation expertise ensures a quick turnaround but also high quality finish.
