With half of tickets being snapped up within 24 hours of the event going live, it looks like MidlandsHour’s highly anticipated tweet-up is set to be a tremendous success. The event will take place at thestudiobirmingham and will see a selection of MidlandsHour’s 40,000 Twitter followers meet face-to-face for an evening of networking.
MidlandsHour founder and owner of RugbyPrinter.co.uk, Carl Thomas, had the idea for the tweet-up after seeing followers grow and deciding to bring the online networking initiative into an offline experience. In order to make the event as successful as possible, Thomas approached two prominent Birmingham businesses, thestudio and EAST VILLAGE. to propose running the event in partnership with MidlandsHour. This trio of companies has entrepreneurial expertise in very different sectors, reflecting the diverse community behind the online #MidlandsHour. This will make for a tweet-up with a difference, as attendees will ascend from very different business backgrounds. With solicitors, estate agents, and HR companies alike all using the hashtag to trade business tactics, pitch their produce, and communicate with potential clients, the event will allow guests to broaden their businesses’ breadth, all within one venue. What’s more, some of #MidlandsHour’s most regular users will be showcasing their services on the night: while guests fill up on food supplied by Paisley Flour Caterers, they will also be serenaded by Welsh folk harpist, Carwyn Tywyn. There will even be some four-legged friends in attendance, thanks to Wild Creature Features. All of this will be snapped by local photographer, Neil Porter, from NCP Photography. On the evening, attendees will also be encouraged to give back, with fundraising for chosen charity Children with Cancer taking place. Speaking about the upcoming event,
Thomas said:“After seeing the success of other tweet-ups, I knew that the MidlandsHour community would get behind the idea, however, I could never have predicted the amazing response! To have the event sell out, even after we increased the number of tickets available, is phenomenal. I can’t wait to meet everybody that has signed up! I am also really pleased that we have created such an engaged community through MidlandsHour and I hope that this tweet-up is the first of many.” MidlandsHour was launched on 9 December 2012 in order to provide an online networking platform via Twitter for local businessmen and women. It takes place every Wednesday from 8-9pm and has established a loyal following of over 39,000 businesses and organisations. In 2015 alone, the hashtag generated over 82,000 tweets, incredibly reaching almost 545million Twitter timelines.
