MIDLANDS WHISKY FESTIVAL TOASTS RECORD YEAR

Two days, 30 exhibitors and over 300 whiskies from across the globe; last weekend saw Midlands Whisky Festival return to the region bigger and better than ever before. The two-day spectacular, which is the biggest event of its type outside London, has announced that the festival will be returning in the autumn for a second stint set to take place in the heart of the city on 16 September.

Last weekend saw Midlands Whisky Festival return to its birthplace in Stourbridge for the 11th year, giving whisky revelers the opportunity to sample over 300 whiskies from all over the world and taste whiskies dating all the way back to the 1950’s as well as the chance to brush up on their whisky wisdom.

Organised by Nickolls and Perks of Stourbridge, one of the UK’s oldest wine and spirits merchants, it celebrated its 10th anniversary year with an event in the heart of Birmingham. Following the success of this month’s festival, Nickolls and Perks has announced that the city centre will return yet again, taking place at thestudiobirmingham on Cannon Street on Saturday 16 September.

“After a hugely successful year in 2016 celebrating our milestone anniversary and introducing a second festival in Birmingham, we were really excited to bring the festival back to Stourbridge – and it didn’t disappoint!

“The spring show boasted a record number of exhibitors and visitors, and we thought the best way to celebrate this was to host a second Birmingham event in September. Holding the festival at such a central location in the city means we are able to bring the festival to a central location and draw people from even further afield to try such amazing whiskies” said Jerome Gardener, who heads up retail sales and events for Nickolls and Perks.

Taking place at Stourbridge Town Hall, Midlands Whisky Festival welcomed some of the world’s best brands for two days of tastings and masterclasses. Its sell-out Saturday included a coveted masterclass ‘240 Years of Glenfarclas with George S. Grant’; a superior tasting that included a cask sample of 40 year old, a 40 year old from their family collector Series, 40 year old Glenfarclas released exclusively for the Taiwan market, and a 1976 vintage 40 year old!
