We are big fashion lovers at EV. and, much like Kate Middleton, we think the future of the industry lies with future talent. So we are absolutely delighted to announce that we have been appointed to handle the PR and social media for the 2014 Midlands Fashion Awards.
The awards, which were founded by Jenny Eason in 2009, recognise and celebrate the wealth of fashion design and talent across Birmingham and the Midlands region. New and emerging fashion and accessory designers, aspiring make-up artists and stylists can enter the awards and take the next step into the competitive but rewarding industry.
Winning, and being shortlisted for, an award provides endless rewards for designers; from brand awareness to the chance to showcase to industry professionals. Previous MFA entrants have gone on to make their mark in the fashion world; including 2010’s Young Fashion Designer of the Year, Victoria Bramwell, who showcased her collection on the main catwalk at Clothes Show Live, took part in Alternative Fashion Week London, and has set up her own boutique. Winner of the 2012 Designer Catalyst, Tamara Joseph, has also taken part in Maryland Fashion Week and Charlotte International Fashion Week, both in the USA, and has now opened her own boutique. They are just two of the success stories to come from the event!
Entries are now open for new and emerging talent to take part in MFA 2014. The theme for this year’s event is 2015 trends, with designers able to create either SS or AW collections. Designers will present a collection of garments for either Haute Couture, Evening Wear or Ready-to-Wear. Successful designers will have their collections shown as part of the MFA 2014 catwalk show in October and awards will be presented for Independent Designer, Emerging Fashion Designer, New Emerging Talent, Accessory Designer, Make-Up Artist, and Fashion Stylist.
As well as the event itself, they will be guided through the competitive fashion arena through networking, marketing and advice.
After four successful years, this year also sees the launch of a new event; the MFA International Fashion Showcase, which sees us providing national and international designers with the opportunity to become part of the MFA platform. This has come as a result of interest coming from beyond the Midlands in previous years.
Entries for both the MFA International Fashion Showcase in June and Midlands Fashion Awards in October are now open. The criteria can be found on the website and the deadline for entries is 30 April for the MFA International Fashion Showcase and 4 May for MFA 2014.
Full information on MFA 2014 and the MFA International Fashion showcase can be found on the website: www.midlandsfashionawards.co.uk. You can also follow the event on Twitter @MidlandsFashion and Facebook.
We’re excited to working with this passionate team, and can’t wait to see the talent that comes from both events in 2014!
