Birmingham’s biggest wine festival is back; more of the city’s best-loved bars, more exciting one-off events and most importantly, more wine! Building on the success of last year, Birmingham Wine Weekend has uncorked its list of participating venues for 2019. Over 20 of Birmingham’s finest watering holes with some of the best wine lists in Brum have signed up for a taste of the action, and will be showcasing their finest serves from 22-24 March 2019.
Award-winning hotel, Hotel du Vin, leads the line-up as the home of the festival, hosting the Birmingham Wine Weekend Hub once again. Here is where wine lovers will collect their wristbands, plot their route with a glass of HdV’s finest, before setting off to explore the city.
The world of wine awaits and this year wristband wearers are in for a special treat. Participants will still be able to bag a delicious taster glass of wine for just £4 but this year will see the introduction of £4 wine cocktail option too! These shaken and stirred creations will be sure to leave everyone on cloud wine! What’s more, a handful a selected venues will be dishing up exclusive wine and canapé pairings for £6, giving BWW2019 festival go-ers more choice than ever before.
Kicking off in the city’s most picturesque corner, Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter is firmly on the Wine Weekend map. Six of the Jewellery Quarters’s finest venues, The Vanguard, 1000 Trades, The Birmingham Whisky Club, The Rectory, The Rose Villa Tavern, and Arch 13 will be joining the bill.
Venturing back into the heart of the city and the centre of Birmingham’s buzzing business district, Colmore BID is sure to be a must-stop destination for wine lovers. Gaucho, Opus, Chung Ying Central and The Jekyll & Hyde will all have offers that are hard to resist. Not to forget Great Western Arcade’s award-winning Loki Wine – a wine-lover’s haven at the centre of the stunning Victorian arcade.
Wristband wearers can continue their wine adventure onto Bennett’s Hill, where some of the Brum’s best bars including The Cosy Club as well as Spanish restaurant, Amantia, will be in the mix.
Wine lovers will be pouring into the Mailbox, with Malmaison, Tom’s Kitchen and Harvey Nichols all signing up for a taste of the action. Providing the perfect canal-side location to discover new tipples, AC By Marriott Birmingham Hotel and Churchills have joined the mix, alongside Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse found on Level25 at The Cube – what better way to enjoy a sip of vino whilst taking in panoramic views of the city? Drifting along the canal towards Brindleyplace, Hyatt Regency Birmingham and Hilton Garden Inn will be inviting wristband wearers to try out their signature serves.
Finally, let’s not forget The Edwardian Tearoom at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, home to the city’s very own “Press for Champagne” buttons. In addition to serving up some delicious wines, the team at the Museum will be playing host to one of BWW2019’s signature events, an Art & Wine tour. That’s just one of the exciting events that will be exclusively available to wristband wearers. Festival go-ers will be able to choose from fine dining opportunities, masterclasses and much more.
Living For The Weekend, the masterminds behind Birmingham Wine Weekend, promises festival goers a journey of discovery of new flavours and fantastic venues. The three-day festival is set to showcase Birmingham’s thriving bar scene, with hand-picked venues offering specially selected wines. Wristbands are priced at £10 and give the wearer access to £4 taster glasses, £4 wine cocktails and even £6 wine and canapé pairings (selected venues only), as well as access to a host of special events.
