Birmingham’s iconic boutique hotel, Malmaison, has announced that it is once again staying ahead of the game, with the launch of its new meetings and events space, Work + Play.
The new concept launched last Thursday evening, on what was formerly known as the hotel’s Mezzanine Floor. Following significant investment, the new-look space recognises that modern workers are tired of dull, expensive and inflexible spaces. Work + Play includes six rooms catering from 2-120+ people, four touch-down ‘pods’ for meetings up to four people, and a breakout lounge. The space matches Malmaison’s style with high tech facilities and flexible spaces; giving people a more stylish option for their meetings and events.
Damian Goom, General Manager at Malmaison Birmingham, said:
“The team is really excited to officially unveil the new Work + Play concept, and we’re proud that Malmaison has chosen Birmingham as the first city to roll out the concept. “The design builds upon the personality of the Malmaison brand; we have refurbished the five existing meeting rooms and added a sixth, as well as created stunning glass touch-down meeting rooms that people can book by the hour. With our central location, these ‘pods’ are perfect for people coming off the train looking for a short meeting space. Added to this, we’ve dressed the space with innovative art, which gives a twist on the conventional business person, including the “Ministry of Silly Walks” wall. The space is designed to be flexible, so whether we’re hosting a small board meeting, training conference for 80, private dinner for up to 120, or an awards after party, Work + Play is the perfect space for you.” Work + Play’s offer breaks new ground for those looking for meeting and events destinations; it matches Malmaison’s style with and versatile touch down rooms that offer an edgy but practical setting for business. Sleek glass walls create a bright and open atmosphere, which, combined with flat screen TVs, conference phones and air conditioning, make it a perfect spot for collaboration, presentations and idea creation.
Paul Roberts, Chief Executive of Malmaison Hotel du Vin, added:
“Malmaison prides itself on staying ahead and giving our guests and visitors truly unique experiences and settings. In today’s world, many who work on the go, or simply need a fully functional base for a few hours have few places to turn. “Work + Play meets that need and does it the Malmaison way, pairing great service, flexible working facilities and stylish settings with a mouth-watering food and drink only a few steps away”. This follows a series of changes at the hotel, including the refurbishment of all 192 bedrooms, and the re-launch of MalBar and the Chez Mal restaurant last year.
