An exhibition showcasing a variety of animation artworks lands in Castle Fine Art’s Solihull gallery, with the renowned Art of Animation tour. Taking visitors back in time, with a nostalgic glimpse into the magical workings of the studios’ animation teams, the tour will display a curated collection from a selection of the world’s favourite animated films.
Following the success of Castle Fine Art’s Disney Vintage collection, the fine art retailer has launched the tour to celebrate the renowned era of traditional animation. Bringing the creative process of the hand-drawn illustrations to life, the exhibition will celebrate the best of animation and will play host to a range of artworks from a selection of nostalgic fan-favourites, including Snow White, The Lion King and Peter Pan.
Joining the iconic sketches on the tour is an authentic artist’s desk – a rare artefact dating back to 1939. Designed by architect Kem Webber, the desk and features intricate details that encapsulates Disney’s Golden Age, including the original art supplies that once helped to create the cartoon magic.
Ian Weatherby-Blythe, Group Managing Director at Castle Fine Art shared:
“The characters featured in these collections have always been a firm favourite with many of our clients. We hope that those visiting the gallery enjoy having a nostalgic look back at some of the famous cartoons that played such a huge role in so many childhoods. The authentic artist’s desk is a wonderful addition to the collection, and offers a real-life insight to the animated works of Disney.
Alongside Walt Disney, the exhibit will also be spotlighting some of the works of animation studio Hanna-Barbara; the creative force behind classic television shows like The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo and Wacky Racers. Visitors will have the chance to purchase rare hand-painted cels and limited-edition graphics of beloved characters like Muttley and Yogi Bear.
