LoveBrum has celebrated the success of its first four years, looking back on the charity’s achievements and the support it has given to hidden-gem projects across the city. Celebrating in style, LoveBrum invited members and supporters alike to its fourth birthday party at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery to mark the launch of its new membership campaign and look back at the charity’s work to date.

Since its inception, LoveBrum has showcased over 120 causes and funded 72 projects to the tune of over £100,000, in addition to securing a partnership with National Lottery and launching its very own Causes Conference, where projects and charities from across Birmingham could get vital business support and advice.

To mark the occasion, over 150 guests attended the charity’s birthday party, where Executive Director, Paul Mitchell, joined trustees, patrons and supporters to look back at the legacy of LoveBrum:

“It has been a pretty incredible time for LoveBrum, as the charity has gone from strength-to-strength, creating more impact and supporting more areas across the city each and every day. The team and trustees have been dedicated to finding and profiling the amazing people and projects who are making a difference in their communities. It was never about funding the obvious charities but instead championing those lesser known, hidden gem causes; and as we look back at four years of funding and over £100,000 being donated to these projects, it is safe to say that we have really stuck to our word when it comes to making Birmingham an even better place to live.

“We have seen 13 patrons join us and 28 corporate members, not to mention all of our incredible members. But now it’s time to take things to the next level, which is why we’ve launched our brand-new campaign: Membership March, and I encourage all proud Brummies – adopted or otherwise – to jump on board and support us!”

Membership March is a campaign that aims to encourage more people to sign up to LoveBrum, which costs just £20 per year. As an incentive, all those who engage in Membership March will be entered into a draw to win prizes from the likes of Hampton Manor, Nocturnal Animals, BANK, Amazon and At One Day Spa. The charity is looking to attract as many members as possible, hoping to rally up more support from across the city, with all proceeds going directly into the funding pot that helps local charities.

Since being founded in 2015, LoveBrum has always been proud to state that all money raised goes directly to the projects it funds. With lean running costs and corporate support to help cover overheads, this ensures that donations are made available to local projects through the charity’s unique funding method. Each month, three causes are profiled and at the end of the month members vote for their favourite; with one winning £2,000, and then a £1,000 and £500 donation to the second and third place projects respectively.
