WHY THIS LOCAL BUSINESSMAN SWAPPED BANKING FOR BRAKE FLUID

Exchanging management meetings for MOTs has worked wonders for former banking and finance professional Pat Pryce, who is celebrating 100% year-on-year business growth. Having worked for AIB, Yorkshire Bank, Santander, and BNP Paribas Real Estate, Pat Pryce put the brakes on his fast-paced finance career of 26 years in favour of a journey of self-employment.

He launched Bullring Autocentre in January 2015 and is celebrating another successful year, with double the number of annual MOTs; a second garage, Moseley Autocentre, joining the family; and overall year-on-year growth of 100%.

Part of Pat’s success has been tapping into a market that he feels other garages have forgotten: the Colmore Business District commuters. Having recognised a gap in services there, Pat set up Bullring Autocentre to keep things running smoothly for the area’s professionals. Better still, the garage is only a 10-minute walk from CBD, so customers can drop their cars off before work, walk in to the office, and stroll back straight after to pick it up.

Pat Pryce, owner of Bullring and Moseley Autocentres, said:

“Having worked in Colmore BID for so long, I know all too well what kind of demands you have on your time. This is what led to the decision to create a service to suit the CBD worker, and it’s been one of the best we’ve made. Time and again our customers are recommending us and one of the main commendations is for our comprehensive approach.

“We’ve tailored opening hours to suit commuters, introduced a free drop off and collection service for both the driver and the car, and now have a free courtesy car available to use. We know what’s important to these fast-paced professionals, and want to uphold this convenient service that really has the customer in mind.”

Pat’s experience in business and finance has helped the business grow significantly in its first two years. Just a year after launching, Pat took the plunge and opened Moseley Autocentre to capture a surburban consumer.

Across Bullring and Moseley Autocentres, Pat employs seven experts including Steve Heath, a mechanical veteran with 40 years’ experience working in both main dealer service centres and independent garages. Steve ensures that Bullring Autocentre remains at the top of its game, using innovative materials and the latest vehicle technology.

“Our business revolves around necessity, simplicity and efficiency. I set up the business to be the answer to the problems I encountered as a consumer. We all work towards offering our customers a convenient and reliable service, teamed with trustworthy advice. As well as this, we keep our prices sensible and in touch with the work required. Whether you’re driving a Ford or a Ferrari, we can handle it,” he concluded.
