LAUNCHING A NEW PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT FOR BIRMINGHAM

Last week (Wednesday 11 March) we held an exclusive preview for a stunning photography project focusing on our hometown of Birmingham.

A soft launch for Clive Sawyer’s latest images, we chose one of our favourite B-Town hotspots, Staying Cool at the Rotunda, as the venue and transformed the space into a vibrant and homely showcase. The team at Staying Cool loves a fun event and they allowed us to completely take over the penthouse; with a whole new interior look, including umbrellas in bathrooms, fashion fabric in bedrooms, new artwork on the walls, and the introduction of new coasters and placemats.

We invited a small and intimate group of business people to come and see Clive’s work and discuss ways of working together. From artwork commissions to new restaurant interiors, the event was all about giving people a chance to see his work first hand and be inspired by it.

Clive Sawyer is an established travel and location fine art photographer who, over the years, has been commissioned to photograph in more than 55 countries. His work has been published extensively throughout the world and there are at least 100 travel book titles where Clive took the majority of the photographs.

Since 2000, he has been increasingly interested in entering the fine art photography world, especially after seeing the wide spread interest of this field in the USA.  After successfully selling fine art prints online he opened a gallery in his hometown of Rye, East Sussex, in 2008.

Sales of his work have rapidly increased year on year with his work being sold UK and worldwide. He has recently supplied Eastern Europe’s premier Business hotel, the 5* Prague Hilton, with 22 large canvas prints of various locations and views of Prague. These canvases are hung around the Cafe` bistro area, which is open to all on a 24/7 basis. It’s this kind of thing that Clive is hoping to replicate in Birmingham establishments.

The event was a huge success and Clive is now in talks with a number of Birmingham businesses about spicing up their spaces. If you’d like to find out more about Clive and see his work, visit www.clive-sawyer.com. If you’d like to discuss a private view of his work or meeting, get in touch!

Oh, and the EAST VILLAGE. team is a huge fan of Clive’s work – he’s the man behind our bright new look. We hope you like it!
