GIN DINNER SET TO SHAKE UP MOOR HALL HOTEL

It was announced as Amazon’s best seller this week, and now Edinburgh Gin is lifting the spirits of gin fans in the Midlands with the announcement of a special five-course dinner dedicated to Mother’s Ruin.

On Friday 8 September, the team from Edinburgh Gin will bring their award-winning range to Moor Hall Hotel for a five-course feast set to tantalise the tastebuds. Prepared by the hotel’s new head chef, Nigel Parnaby, a special menu has been created to complement the range of gins on offer.

Leading the evening will be the Edinburgh Gin team who will educate guests about a brand that is fast-becoming one of the UK’s biggest drinks exports. Talking about the distillery, which was inspired by Scotland’s gin-making history dating back to the 18th century, the evening will provide gin lovers with the opportunity to find out about the history behind the ‘Mother’s Ruin’ craze and how Edinburgh Gin remains dedicated to the art and science of distilling, and of creating innovative, award-winning gins.

To shake up the evening, drinks expert Robert Wood has paired five stunning cocktails to go with each course. Now proprietor of Birmingham’s Smultronställe, Robert has previously created the drinks programmes at The Wilderness and was head bartender at The Edgbaston Hotel and 40 St Paul’s. He will be talking through his Edinburgh Gin choices and the flavour combinations he has chosen.

Claire Sumner-Hughes, Business Development Manager at Ian Macleod Distillers, comments: “Gin may be on trend at the moment but Edinburgh Gin has been creating and distilling incredible gins for almost a decade, and we’re delighted to be able to showcase them at this special event with Moor Hall Hotel. Teaming Nigel Parnaby’s culinary skills with the cocktail prowess of Robert Wood will be a winning combination, and will really bring the flavours in the food and botanicals that we bottle to life.”

The specially crafted menu for the evening is being hand-prepared by Moor Hall Hotel’s new chef, who joins from Hoar Cross Hall. Starting with smoked salmon and smoked trout rillette, with samphire, lime jelly, pickled cucumber, and walnut bread followed by gin and tonic sorbet. Diners will enjoy dishes such as a two bone rack of lamb, braised lamb faggot, juniper and chorizo jus, and plum and ginger pudding with cinnamon scented custard; before completing their culinary experience with Staffordshire organic mature cheddar, cardamom bread, juniper chutney, coffee and petits fours.

Sam Goss, General Manager at Moor Hall said: “We are so excited to be teaming up with Edinburgh Gin for this special event. It is a chance for Nigel to showcase his incredible skills in the kitchen, creating a menu that will really impress guests, made even better by five complementary cocktails created by the Edinburgh Gin team. I look forward to welcoming guests to our hotel for an evening to remember!”
