EV Yearbook 2021 – Sam Bethune

Quote: “I think I officially have a flat white running through my veins”.

Most Likely To: (To be decided)

What’s been your favourite marketing trend of 2021?

I’ve really enjoyed a lot of the video content that brands have been releasing over the year. With TikTok becoming the powerhouse that it is, the new wave of video content such as reels, shorts, and live streams has brought a whole new dynamic to the ways in which brands can market themselves.

Your favourite cultural moment?

For me, it would probably be the universal solidarity that was shown at the World Cup when Danish footballer Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch. Aside from the fantastic work that the medical team and Danish captain showed to help Eriksen, it was so nice to say the unification and support for Eriksen across the world, no matter what country people supported.

Fave EV moment?

Probably going on the Vagabond press trip with Hattie. Aside from it being a super fun trip down to Vagabond’s Urban Winery at Battersea Power Station, it was my first proper press trip. I was glad that it went well, and we got some really good coverage for Vagabond following the press trip.

Favourite film/television series of 2021?

My favourite TV series of the year would probably be the new season of You. I thought the script was written really well this series, and the plot twists were certainly unexpected. Film wise, it would have to be Dune. I saw it in the cinema recently, and it is one of the best cinema experiences I have had in a long time, which felt even better with cinemas being closed for so long after Covid.

What’s a song that will always remind you of 2021?

Paddling by Squid. They’re a new band which I’ve started listening to this year, and I simply love their style and sound.

What was your favourite purchase of the year and why?

Probably the house me and my girlfriend are renting. We moved in, in the summer, and It’s so nice to finally have our own space again. It’s been really fun decorating it and putting our own personality into it.

What’s a valuable lesson that you’ve learnt this year?

Always appreciate your loved one. They are the person that keeps you grounded, and help you grow as a person.

Sum up 2021 for you in 3 words.

Reflective, Creative, Growth
