The Director of Product & Innovation at a leading digital agency, which specialises in providing third sector organisations with digital solutions, has joined a national list of the digital industry’s most influential people – the BIMA 100.
The annual BIMA 100 (powered by the British Interactive Media Association) recognises and celebrates the UK’s most influential people in the digital and tech industry right now, and describes those on the list as “leaders, pioneers, entrepreneurs and changemakers.”
Among those on the list is Alex McGibbon, Director of Product & Innovation at Giant Digital – which has been offering web development and digital support to third sector organisations for over a decade.
With over 15 years’ experience in user-led design, Alex is a dedicated advocate for creating a more accessible and inclusive digital world for all and puts that passion to good use in his work overseeing the research, design, tailored strategies and development of innovative digital solutions for charities that put users’ needs at their core.
During his time with Giant Digital, Alex has contributed to a number of noteworthy internal campaigns. Most notably, he spearheaded the original development of Giant Digital’s own bespoke charity donation platform, which has taken over £3 million in donations to date for a variety of charity clients.
In the last year, Alex worked with Help for Heroes, identifying the need for an improved beneficiary support digital strategy. As a result of Alex’s hard work, research and dedication, the platform implemented a support mechanism which, within the first six months of launching, received over 7,000 unique visits with 70% of visitors sourcing further information, and 21% actively requesting the charity’s help.
Alex’s hard work and passion to do good doesn’t stop when he leaves the door to head home; A keen member of the gaming community and a part time Puppy Raiser for Guide Dogs UK, Alex soon realised that the potential for charities to engage with gamers and fundraise through live streaming platforms was huge. Since then, Alex has developed a guide and package to help non-profits understand and embrace this new channel of fundraising opportunity, and now works with Guide Dogs UK, Just a Drop and St John’s Ambulance Wales to support them in their gaming for good endeavours.
Speaking about how it felt to be on the list, Alex said:
“I am incredibly honoured to be recognised as part of the prestigious BIMA 100. It is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team at Giant Digital, as well as our commitment to driving positive change in the third sector. I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to make a difference and excited to see what the future holds.”
Sharing his thoughts about Alex’s accolade, Co-Founder of Giant Digital, Vimal Patel commented:
“We are immensely proud of Alex’s outstanding achievement and recognition as part of the esteemed BIMA 100. His dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to creating innovative digital strategies for our clients have been instrumental in our success as a company.
