Blowing in from the West is Birmingham’s newest go-to night out, in the centre of Chinatown at Chung Ying Garden. The ‘Vintage Got Soul’ events were created by Birmingham-born Rene Williams back in Chicago when he fell in love with the prevalent blues scene and very soon, he decided that the next place on his hit list had to the windy city’s very own sister city, Birmingham.
Inspired by the legendary blues clubs of Chicago like the House of Blues and Kingston Mines, Rene Williams teamed up with the Chung Ying Restaurant Group to produce nights that deliver good music, good food and good company.
From jazz to RnB to blues, this live music event provides the best that the modern soul scene has to offer and is unsurprisingly in high demand with Birmingham’s party-goers, who are excited to discover that Brum has got soul.
Rene Williams, founder of ‘Vintage Got Soul’, said:
“The response we have got since launching our ‘Vintage Got Soul’ events at Chung Ying Garden has been amazing. We are showing that in a generation of house music and DnB, that soul is still going strong in society.
“My goal is to make my ‘Vintage Got Soul’ event an official platform for Birmingham based artists to showcase their talents to the world by building the bridge between the UK and the US through the medium of social media.”
James Wong, Managing Director of the Chung Ying Restaurant Group, said:
“After a great year of success in 2016, we are so excited to be working with Rene and ‘Vintage Got Soul’ to bring the culture of Chicago to Birmingham’s Chinatown!”
On Friday 31st March, between 7pm and 12am, Chung Ying Garden will be transformed once more from the city’s Chinese centre into a live music club bringing you the sweet sounds of soul.
