BUSINESSES LINE UP TO SUPPORT BIRMINGHAM YOUNG PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Nominations have closed and the countdown to Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards 2016 (BYPY16) is on. Taking place at the ICC on Thursday 12 May, this year’s event has secured a number of high profile sponsors who will help celebrate the city’s leading talent in the business professional services (BPS) sector.

Santander UK, which employs over 25,000 people including in its Birmingham city centre offices on Livery Street, has snapped up headline sponsorship of BPS Birmingham’s flagship event. With a focus on supporting and developing employees, Santander prides itself on providing excellent opportunities for career progression; a culture that recognises individual needs and encourages accountability and teamwork. Ian Booth from Santander said:

“Santander is proud to be the headline sponsor of the 2016 Birmingham Young Professional of the Year award. This is one of Birmingham’s most prestigious business events, celebrating the best talent in the city, which aligns with many of our own objectives around developing and celebrating talent. “

Also sponsoring BYPY Awards, for the first time, is global IT services provider SCC, which has been headquartered in Birmingham since being founded more than 40 years ago. Specialising in all areas of business IT, it will sponsor this year’s Technology category. Another successful Birmingham-based independent business, Hotel La Tour, has signed up to sponsor the Finance category.

Returning as sponsor of the Property and Construction category this year is Gateley Plc, which will also be joined by SimkissGuy Recruitment, sponsoring HR, Recruitment and Training for the third year running. Having worked with the BYPY committee last year, The Mailbox has pledged further support for the awards, signing up as sponsor of the Legal Category.

In addition to the six main categories, BYPY also crowns an Inspiring Leader, which recognises exemplary figures within the professional community whose effect can be measured by their impact upon others. Squire Patton Boggs returns as sponsor of this category for the second year.

The Aspiring Talent Award, which sees a passionate and dedicated 16-24 year old in full time higher/further education or training celebrated, is being sponsored by the Greater Birmingham Professional Services Academy.

BYPY16 will recognise and reward the most talented individuals in six categories: Finance; HR, Recruitment & Training; Legal; Marketing & Communications; Property & Construction and Technology. An overall BYPY winner will be chosen from these six winners and will benefit from a range of professional development opportunities, including a place on the Common Purpose Navigator course, designed for emerging leaders.
