BIRMINGHAM MANUFACTURER AWARDED HIGHEST ACCOLADE FOR INTERNATIONAL TRADE

Birmingham-based Armac Martin has been recognised for its outstanding success overseas, being honoured with a Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade. The fourth-generation family business, which designs and manufactures luxury brassware right here in the city, is one of only 25 West Midlands-based companies recognised in this year’s awards.

Founded over 90 years ago by Harold McGrail, Armac Martin joins an exclusive list of businesses who have been officially recognised by HRH The Queen and will celebrate at a Royal reception hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace later this year.

Armac Martin, which employs 110 people, prides itself on designing and creating each and every product from its Duddeston-based factory. The expert design and production team are responsible for creating over 41 hardware collections, available in 23 expert brass finishes.

Dedicated to creating high quality cabinet hardware and accessories – with a reputation built on quality and excellence passed down from generation to generation – the company has successfully demonstrated its excellence in international trade during recent years, in spite of the unprecedented impact of the pandemic.

Celebrating this significant milestone, Commercial Director Richard McGrail, comments:

“We are thrilled that Armac Martin has been honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. As the most renowned British business award a company can receive, this is an incredible accolade for the whole team and is a real testament to the skilled work and dedication of each and every individual.”

Now in its 56th year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise is the most prestigious business awards in the country. The annual award winners are selected by the Prime Minister’s office and approved by the Queen each year on her birthday and celebrated during a reception at Buckingham Palace. What’s more, winning businesses can display the esteemed Queen’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.

“Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, we are delighted to have successfully scaled the business to now ship over 50% of our orders overseas. Having developed our international trade significantly over the past few years and we feel both humbled and proud to be recognised for this sustained growth and commercial success. Looking to the future, I’m confident that we’ll continue to grow and thrive in the coming weeks and months – watch this space!” Richard added.

Alongside this accolade, Armac Martin has celebrated several notable achievements within the past few years, including receiving an SBID Award for the best Ironmongery & Metalwork product at the inaugural SBID Product Design Awards for 2020. In addition to receiving the Excellence in Industry Award at the Birmingham Business Excellence Awards 2019.
