From tequila tastings to Bloody Mary brunches and even a cocktail time machine, Birmingham Cocktail Weekend has revealed a jam-packed events schedule that is sure to get cocktail-lovers excited. The reveal of the events line-up coincides with the announcement of the final two participating venues, Rofuto and Suds ‘n’ Duds. The cocktail spectacular, taking place from 15-17 July, will play host to three days of exciting events. With some fantastic brands teaming up with venues across the city, BCW has created an agenda of activity that’ll have cocktail-connoisseurs racing through the doors. Kicking off the weekend of events in style on Friday, headline sponsor Jim Beam will be hosting a tasting at The Jim Beam Hub @ Island Bar; giving cocktail revelers a chance to taste the internationally renowned bourbon as they pick up their wristbands.
Wristband wearers will also be able to sneak behind the bookcase in The Lost and Found and visit the exclusive Sipsmith Secret Garden and then head up the road to The Bureau, where they will be playing host to a Meet the Blends Masterclass from Maxxium. Other Friday events include The Barcardi Cocktail Time Machine at Gas Street Social, a Plymouth Gin Masterclass at The Jekyll & Hyde, and a Licor 43 tasting at Amantia. Setting Saturday off in style is the Le Grand Day Out, where Grey Goose will be presenting 4 exciting serves of vodka at The Chameleon.
The vodka vibe continues over at Chung Ying Central with a Tourunska & Goral vodka tasting, as well as a masterclass from Absolut Vodka at The Rose Villa Tavern. Absolut’s UK brand ambassador will even be stepping behind the bar at RVT for a ‘STARtender’ shift. Whisky more on your wavelength? Then head to The Victoria’s Whisky Lover’s Single Malts masterclass. New venue Rofuto will also be serving up a taste of Tokyo in a Suntory Whisky tasting developed by The Food and Drink Events Company. Wristband wearers can tread the boards and mix up some theatre inspired cocktails at the New Alexandra Threatre, then head over to Hotel du Vin for a masterclass with Glenfiddich. If tequila is your choice of tipple, Bodega will be hosting a session with Patron introducing the concept of food pairing!
Throw in some exclusive food offers from venues such as Rub Smokehouse and Chung Ying Central and we’re away. Kick starting your Sunday, The Rose Villa Tavern is offering up a free bloody Mary with every brunch. Sunday will also see The Botanist host their “Boozy Brunch” to get wristband holders refuelled ready to enjoy the final day of BCW! Marmalade will also be celebrating the last day of BCW with a Bols Genever and Craft Beer pairing session, and over at Buffalo and Rye, Jim Beam will be toasting to the end of the weekend in style with a Jim Beam Bourbon Family masterclass.
As well as this myriad of events, BCW have also announced the final two venues to the line up and it was well worth the wait. The speakeasy that never sleeps, Suds ‘n’ Duds, is the latest to saddle up for the BCW ride. This secret Gas Street bar that moonlights as a laundrette, offers up a fun drinks menu, if you can find it of course. Alongside Suds ‘n’ Duds and completing this year’s line up is Japanese restaurant, Rofuto. Located on the 16 th floor of the recently opened Park Regis Tower, Rofuto offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, whilst providing some of the best views of the Birmingham skyline. Full event details can be found on the Birmingham Cocktail Weekend website, where wristbands are also available to purchase for only £6. These wristbands will not only allow the wearer to enjoy the exclusive signature cocktail in each venue for just £4, but will also grant access to all of the great free tastings, master-classes and events during the weekend too.
