The newest addition to EV., Fatima, joins the team as a Junior Account Executive. In this 60 Seconds With, she shares what made her want to enter the PR world, her perspective joining the PR working world as a student and her advice for anyone like-minded students who would love to get involved in PR.

  • How did you get into PR?

Having done Media and English Literature for A-Level and enjoying both, I was always interested in how to merge the two subjects, career-wise. Alongside this, from the age of 13 up until now, I feel like I have really seen the influencer culture on social media begin and grow – so significantly to the point where working with influencers has become a legitimate PR aspect for brands. Thus, PR perfectly allows me to work within communications and the digital world – all whilst helping brands through latest social media trends, influencers, and more.

  • Tell us a bit more about your role!

I work with the SLT and both the Account Teams where I help implement and deliver team strategies and ideas, as well understanding and keeping account of clients.

  • What is your favourite part of the job?

Coming into the office as I am guaranteed a belly laugh or two.

  • What’s your go-to coffee order?

Iced Caramel Latte (I am in desperate need of some fun recommendations).

  • Here’s a divisive question… dogs or cats?

I feel like this is controversial, but cats.

  • What are your top three marketing tools that you can’t live without?

Canva, social media, working with journalists

  • What is one top tip that you give every client about PR?

Keeping on top of the latest social media trends! Creatively reaching your target audience in a way that is currently trending on social media can help you stand out and speak to your audience in a personal and memorable way.

  • What is your PR trend prediction for 2023 and beyond?

Brands not wanting to use Twitter as a social platform for PR – due to the infamous Elon Musk ownership.

  • Who would your dream client be and why?

Probably someone within the beauty/fashion industry. Fenty Beauty, NARS, ASOS – the lot.

  • Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to get into the industry?

From a student perspective, there is only so much you can read about people’s experiences within PR. I highly recommend getting yourself on LinkedIn (shoot your shot! It’s not as scary as it seems!) and find some PR experience so you can really understand and embrace the ins-and-outs of the industry.
